G6 Family—
Simply Gibson 6.
Let’s do a little intro, shall we? I’ll spare you the love story that begins with me begging David to be his girlfriend and him refusing to want a girlfriend even though we spent everyday together! I feel like this just paints the picture of our relationship and dynamic. Well, I outed it. So, let’s begin.
We have 4 kids equalling our Gibson 6. We have this amazing photo of the 2010 “Winner Team”. The “Winner Team”, what David called our family as an avid soccer family and a coach, David encouraged a healthy competition in our household. “Winner Team” became a staple in our house; from our game nights playing board games to soccer games cheering on our children.
We moved from Kent, WA to Edmonds, WA in 2006. We moved to Edmonds to start another business Gibson Grading LLC, construction grading. David was involved in the remodel of his family home in Renton, WA and commuting back and forth. The end goal was for David's Father, Grandpa Eddie, to move north with us after his retirement. They would later go into business together with Gibson Grading LLC. I was home with all 3 kids until #4 surprised us in late 2006 into 2007. This changed our plans slightly and David decided to stay the course with construction building a clientele.
We rooted ourselves in the Edmonds community. We joined a Cooperative Preschool for our daughter, Hannah and our son, Devin. Isabelle was heading into 1st Grade when we moved to Edmonds, WA. We had family and friends that lived in the area but little did we know what an impact this community would have on us! We instantly fell in love with Edmonds, WA. We immersed ourselves in the community and volunteered wherever we could to support our children’s schools and activities.
You can say by kid #4 we mastered the art of juggling. No pun intended as David is a Juggler that can juggle while on a Unicycle - fun fact! David started coaching soccer in 2006. He balanced working on an investment property in Renton with his brother and dad, along with being a soccer coach for Hannah. This morphed in 2010 when he then became the soccer coach to all 4 kids. David quickly leapt into starting his own business. The challenges of living in Edmonds and commuting to Renton posed an obstacle to maintaining his passion for coaching his kids. He also wanted to find time to spend time with his family without a 3-4 hour commute every day. The logical next step, start his own thang officially.
G6 Renovation was born in 2012. We bought what the kids called the “Loaded Diaper” van from Diary of a Wimpy kid and he worked hard to build a customer base in the community we live in. Coach David, Contractor David, and Daddy made him (or what I like to call him) The Mayor of Edmonds. Coaching 4 kids, having a wife who volunteers in every activity (David said I was The Volunteer of America) and adding to the extracurriculars to keep her busy g6 kiddies moving made us pretty well known in the community. Preschool Co-Op friends, soccer families, and friends of our friends in the community hired David to do work in their homes. The quality of his work and ability to customize construction is what stood out to his customer base and from there the business grew.
David and I collaborated on some projects when his customers needed organization or if a business hired us to organize or build shelving units for their workflow. We always envisioned working together. We love being a team together in life and in business.
G6 Renovation focuses on in-home remodeling. It started off with bathrooms, kitchens, handyman tasks, whatever it was - David didn’t say no. He has an eye for detailed customization from working with his brother, Dan, at DG Construction. He added a carpentry touch that left homeowners excited to show off their newly remodeled space. All of David’s business to date is word of mouth, a happy customer to another happy customer is how G6 Renovation maintains its steady flow of business. David and Dan collaborated together to bring in custom cabinetry to G6 Renovation. G6 Renovation can now offer customized cabinets to enhance a homeowner’s space. This is a refined construction company that specializes in building a space that creates value and functionality with an emphasis on quality.
G6 Renovation’s team has grown since 2012. They are a team of 3 with Dan as our Cabinet Maker, Max as our Carpenter and their fearless Leader, David as General Contractor.
G6 Retail Renovation is born. A passion to support small businesses left me wanting to build relationships which morphed into building a small business myself. The connections made throughout the years of working in food, beverage and retail business gave a nice jump start to support small businesses with their general operations. I found myself sharing advice, or helping out to fix QuickBooks or advise on a team member's relations that I wanted to do this for real. I started with one business and it’s grown over the last year to a network of 8 clients and a team of 4 (2 being my amazing daughters).
G6 Retail Renovation begins their analysis with the financial health of the business. Oftentimes, Founders will set up financial software like Quickbooks but leave it at that. They get lost in minutia and the small details land low on the priority list. We are here to help organize their financial needs - this gives a picture of where the organization is and helps us build a strategy for growth and maintenance. We then can build a foundation for any retail or production business with operations support.
